Proverbs 12:4 (AMP)

A virtuous and worthy wife [earnest and strong in character] is a crowning joy to her husband, but she who makes him ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

(KJV) A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

  • The word virtuous is a masculine noun meaning strength, wealth and army.
  • When describing men, it can speak of those who are strong for war.
  • When describing women, it speaks of virtuous character.
  • Referring to women, we only find it in Ruth 3:11, Proverbs 12:4 and Proverbs 31:10.
  • Ruth was a vituous woman.
  • Boaz and Ruth typified Christ and his Bride – the Church.

  • The word crown is a feminine noun signifying a crown or a wreath.
  • It was a circlet or headdress worn by a king to symbolize his power and authority.

  • The Lord Jesus Christ came to demonstrate his Father’s will.
  • He forgave sins, healed the sick, drove out demons, preached the good news and destroyed the works of the devil.
  • And, He became the head of the Church – He is the Bridegroom.

1John 3:8b (NIV) …The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.

  •  The Father has given all power and dominion to Christ Jesus. (Ephesians 1:21)
  • If and when we have gone through the cleansing processes of the Word and the Spirit in order to become the Bride, we then become our Husbands power and authority on this earth. (2Corinthians 11:2, Ephesians 5:25-27)

John 15:3 (KJV) Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

Matthew 28:18-19 (KJV) And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

  • The day we are born again we have authorit in the name and blood of Jesus. (John 1:12, Luke 10:19)
  • And when we are baptised with the Holy Spirit (engaged to Christ Jesus), we receive more power and authority. (Acts 1:8)
  • It is a progressive process as we grow up into Him. (Ephesians 4:15)
  • As His Bride we can go forth, being part of His army to slay the Beast and the False Prophet. (Revelation 19:14-21)

May we, individually as well as corporately, become His virtuous wife.

And may we grow up into Him, using our delegated power and authority in order to expand the Kingdom of heaven.

Luke 10:19 (AMP)

Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you.
