Wisdom of Solomon #11

Proverbs 11:24-25 (NIV)

One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.

  • In life there are always two ways – Kingdom of God’s way and the world’s way.
  • God has a wisdom and the world has its own wisdom
  • Both deal with everyday earthly issues as well as spiritual affairs of man.
  • The difference is that the one is heavenly and the other earthly[1].

1Corinthians 3:19 (KJV) For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

  • And so in personal financial matters each one of us has been taught a different “set of rules”. How hard to work, how much to save, where and how to spend etc. etc.
  • This all we have learnt from the world. It has shaped our thinking concerning money.
  • Did you know that Jesus taught more on finances than on healing?
  • How to give, how not to give and whom to give to. But most of all, He led by way of example.

Luke 6:38 (NIV) Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

John 13:29 (KJV) Since Judas had charge of the money, some thought Jesus was telling him to buy what was needed for the Feast, or to give something to the poor.

  • We all agree that there will not be any fruit, harvest or return if nothing is first of all sown.  In fact it is a law of nature.[2]
  • But so many times we fail to apply the very same law, which Jesus and Paul[3] confirmed as a spiritual law, to all areas of our lives!

May we everyday sow a seed of love, joy, peace, friendship, help and even some money.

And may we come to the place in our lives where the sower overtakes the reaper – reaping abundantly everyday of our lives the fruit of our seeds.

Amos 9:13 (KJV)

Behold, the days are coming,” says the LORD,
When the plowman shall overtake the reaper, And the treader of grapes him who sows seed; The mountains shall drip with sweet wine, And all the hills shall flow with it.
